Spring Flowers

I bought today the first summer flowers and settled those down on the same placies as last year:

Birthday Cake

I turned 25 (for almost tenth time) on monday. Because I like to make cakes I made also one for my birthday.
On my birthday one corner of the yard started to flourish amazingly:

Something old, something new, something....green!!

I walked today around my garden and tried to find perennial plants seeking for light. Here are the results. For later on I will write these garden posts mainly in finnish (and a short translation in english) because I think most of the interessed ones are finns. The other problem is that I do not know the plant names in english.

Kuljeskelin tänään puutarhan ympäri ja yritin paikallistaa kasvien alkuja. Kuten aiemmin jo totesin, sipulikukat nousevat paremmin kuin osasin edes toivoa. Ja alkaahan niitä perennojakin näkyä. Näin siis 21.4 II-vyöhykkeellä:

Keisarinpikarililjojen lehdet hieman kupristelivat yöpakkasten takia, mutta kasvu on onneksi kuitenkin jatkunut entisellään.

Tulppaaneissa talon eteläpäädyssä on jo isot lehdet. Perinneliljatkin ovat hyvässä kasvussa. Lisäsin liljoja viime kesänä.

Siirsin viime syksynä viisi pionia, vaikka niiden siirrosta kovasti varoiteltiinkin.

Key Chains

I have long thought about making a new chain for my keys. I carry my keys on advertisement chains at work and those happen to be ugly as hell, you know. It is also a bit tricky to have both key chain and necklace on your neck at the same time. Here is my result for the problem:

And when you do not need any keys you can just change a normal necklace pendant to hang in the middle!

Now there is already 15 followers in my blog -I am happy for that. I hope you also comment the postings (either in english or finnish or swedish or french or estonian or German language:)

Spring Time!!

There is still snow in our garden but not everywhere. Today was very sunny and warm! I can almost hear the winter (and the rest of the snow) running away and the spring settling down. I am very eager to take care of my garden and everyday I go to see what has happened to my last autumn's flower plantings.

We have an old house and a lot of old perennial plants in the garden. The garden was a bit shaggy when we moved in but last summer I did quite a lot work for it (it is shaggy still but not so much:D ). In the autumn I put hundreds of bulbs in the ground and those are popping up now in the spring.

Galanthus Nivalis (puistolumikello) was the first flower to flourish in the garden this spring. I found some white flowers in the end of March and it is still flourishing strongly. Beautiful!

I have old and new bulbs of narcissus (narsissi) all over the garden. I took all the old narcissus I found up from the ground and separated the multiple bulbs apart and planted those again. In addition to those I also bought some new bulbs. And these all seem to have managed over the winter very well. Even in my compost seems to be some tens of narcissus (which I forgot to plant, I suppose:)!

Fritillaria imperialis (Keisarinpikarililja/keisarinkruunu) is one of the biggest spring / early summer flowers. I love this one (and the moles luckily don´t!). My fritillarias are orange ones, I hope i am able to post you some pictures of them flourishing as soon as possible!

Angry Birds Cake

Usually I am a pit disappointed with the result when I am making a cake: the plan is excellent but I still do not have yet the skills the best possible result requires. But this time I did it well and I am happy (not angry at all:)!

The white parts are sugar paste other colours marzipan. The black marzipan gets easily "dusty" and that I use to "polish" with frying spray in the end.

Painted Tablecloth

I have a very old beautiful table. The table was painted in 1950-60 (I suppose) with thick browm floorpaint. Last summer I grinned the table so that also the wooden surface was visible. But I still hate the boring brown...I had to do something for the table! I bought some turquoise colored paint, taped some lines and re-fashioned the table. Now there is a new tablecloth on:

Owl Howl

I bought couple of colourful dresses from winter sale for 5 euro each. The pink dress was little bit too boring (and untypical color) for me therefore I re-fashioned it a bit with an owl applique (is this the right english word??). This dress is also linked up on Sew Chatty´s Made with love link up.

I KNOW I should have ironed the dress before taking the photo but I was too lazy for that. Sorry :D

Button Fun

Thank you the first five permanent followers! I hope there will be more of you, soon :)

I made some jewelry with my friend on Easter Sunday. Here are some of the results: the ones made of recycled buttons. This post is also linked up on Get Your Craft on Tuesday (Today´s Creative blog).

Brooches.

Rings.

Pendant with Hama-pearls and an old button.

Fridge magnet (the marvellous cat is done by my 5-year old son).

All the projects are glued with E6000-glue which I think is the best for this type of projects. I am not sure whether E6000 is sold in Finland, I have ordered it from USA.

Frames

In the corridor we have such a complicating wallpaper what becomes to hanging art and pictures on it. I tried though and managed quite well, I suppose.

Ukulele Art

I am learning to play my ukulele little by little. When I bought the ukulele I wish I had got one with colourful pictures on it (skulls and roses, for example) but the music store had run out of those. So, I bought a boring brown one. Not anymore:

I painted the ukulele with acrylic paints. It might be a bit childish (or psychedelic) now but at least it is much more fun to play Beethoven´s Ode to the Joy (the only song, I really can at the moment).

Easter Beginner

This is the first blogging in my brand new Craftisane-blog. I am happy that YOU are reading this!

As I start the blog during easter time it is natural to show you some handmade decorated easter eggs. The first one I decorated with water-resistant marker; in my opinion this modern black and white combination works extremely well! (Festivo candle holders are from the famous finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva)

With this easter egg I also participated on Brassy Apple´s Make it monday link up.

More traditonal looking easter egg is decorated by my 7-year old daughter. She used decoupage lack and paper napkins for the hard-boiled egg.
